Driving Griff Rev counter from Emerald
Discussion
Had a look for but can’t find :-
A while ago someone posted a drawing of how to use a relay coil to drive the Griff Rev counter from an Emerald. Should have printed it at the time but didn’t. Please could somebody point me to the thread or post the drawing again.
Also on a similar theme. The standard engine loom branches off under the dash and joins the main body loom with two connectors. Does anybody have a drawing if what pin or colour goes where ?
Thanks

I think its worth considering having CAI mod your rev counter to accept a more modern ECU tach signal. Plenty of these 'drivers' only "just" work
I just connected the rev counter to the coil packs via some diodes, it 'only just' works and goes a bit wonky sometimes at the top of the rev range, but has the advantage of being quick easy and dead cheap to do (since the rev counter feed is already right there by my coil packs).
I was alluding to the possibility that for many who buy a tach driver, the cost diff to having the tacho refurbished/upgraded to accept the pulse which most ecus are capable of generating may be negligible.
Thats how a manufacturer would do it rather than bodge bits together when changing from dizzy to coil packs
on more mainstream cars - hence why modern ecu's and rev counters work the way they do. Why introduce something contrived when there is a proper proven mainstream way of doing it? I'd have mine done at the drop of hat if it was a CAI dial.

The cost is quite a bit more Dave, I enquired a few weeks ago. But I also agree if you have the later dials it is probably worth it, but on my oldey SW gauges......best let sleeping dogs.Thats how a manufacturer would do it rather than bodge bits together when changing from dizzy to coil packs
