Was going to attend the cobweb run today ,filled up with fuel left the garage and noticed a bit of a notchy change going up through the gears , meeting place for the run is only a couple of straight miles away (Washington services) ,Went to pull into the meet and clutch pedal practically none existant managed to get it into 4th gear and passed straight through and nursed it all the way home in 4th i was very lucky with the traffic lights , got it home okay, the clutch is not slipping but the pedal is very soft . Could this be a slave cylinder problem ? any advise much appreciated . Oh and its a 93 pre-serp 500.

Well i opened up the access for the master cylinder and the fluid is okay and at the correct level . pedal is very weak and has hardly any travel , im thinking a possible slave problem now so its looking like a garage job good one about half a mile away .

When you say no travel - is the pedal on the floor and not coming backup or is it in the normal position and you can't push it down?

If it is the former I had a similar problem on my old S - there is an internal spring in the master cylinder to push the plunger back out and that had collapsed. Had to strip it down and replace the spring (did all the seals at the same time).

If it is the latter then it sounds like a mechanical issue (rather than hydraulic) possibly the slave cylinder pushrod has come out of alignment and got jammed.
