Rear number plate
Discussion
Has anyone had a problem keeping the rear number plate in situe on the Griff. I bought a new acrylic plate from a recognised supplier, it is good quality but is rather stiff. I fitted it after cleaning the area with meths and used a recommended double sided tape from the plate manufacturer. All was well until I left the car in the sun and the plate peeled itself away from the body work. I then applied two runs of tape, one to the car and one to the plate but is still comes away from the car in the warm sun.
Any suggestions

If your plate is perfectly flat it makes it more difficult to stay stuck.I found that bending mine slightly to take the slightly curved surface that it mounts to makes a lot of difference.Using a good quality trim tape all the way around the edge of the plate also makes a lot of difference compared to just a few small peices.
No plates now are made from almost unbreakable plastic.. This is to help police when theres a crash and people leave the scene,
The Number plate will stay intact whether on the car still or left roadside ,, instead of breaking in to bits.leaving bit in different places..
Double sided tape 3Ms is best no im not a 3Ms sales person but i own a bodyshop we us this and it wont come off..cheers stuart g

Mine has been screwed on ever since I had the car, 1 screw, at the very edge of the plate each side. The car came like this so not sure if there are custom brackets behind and/or whether Fernies do this on all the cars they supply.
eta as can just be seen in this photo.

Because mine has .. ermmm .. 'different' spacing on the plate I have to take it off for the MOT, so I have little aluminium L shaped brackets inside the cavity and my plate attaches to them. It doesn't really spoil the look but it certainly fixes the problem of having to take the plate off.
I have been thinking of doing something with velcro, the same as I have at the front, but its difficult because of the curve.
