Been asked before I know but can't find the thread by searching...

Very occasionally I have a cold start issue where when turning the key to start the car the ignition lights etc. come on as normal but neither the fuel pump or starter motor are energised. Turn off and on again and everything bursts into life. I have the modwise hot start kit fitted. Maybe a relay with a poor contact somewhere?

I had this happen to me the other day - at a Shell station just after filling up, naturally furious

Tried several times to start the car - but no starter motor or priming pump.... with help pushed the car to one side (much amusement) and called the AA...

AA guy turns up about 30 minutes later - and the Griff starts first time! didn't seem to phase the AA guy at all, in fact he was more interested to have a look around the car biggrin

Anyhow, the guys I've talked to also think that there is an intermittent problem with the immobiliser. I'm off to Leven on Monday for a few bits and pieces - Simon's said he'll take a look and see whether he can identify any possible connector problems etc. If it's an obvious problem, I'll post an update.

In my experience the Immobiliser tends to fail on one of the several circuits so the symptom ( in my case ) was that the fuel pump primed but intermittently the starter solenoid would not pull in. If you have several things not working ie. starter and fuel pump I would suspect something that is common to both

Sounds like the immob to me. Carl Baker's your man to sort this out.

Not a big issue yet. I'm pretty good with electrics, bit an intermittent that sorts itself out in a second and then doesn't happen for another month is a tricky one. Already have a replacement Laserline immobiliser fitted too.

Sounds like immobiliser. Had the same problem on mine and new immobilser sorted it.

Update - been to Essex and back today (seeing Jules and Simon at Leven) - no problems starting at any point of the journey to or from. Seems to have been a one-off (hopefully!) /m
