I've got one of these, and it works a treat. After a run and putting the car in the garage, I always pop the bonnet to connect the conditioner and the plenum top is cold. It does heat soak if left standing but as soon as the cold air is passing through it cools right down again. Worthy mod in my opinion.

Oh FFS!

Why is it never as simple as I want?

Had a butchers at the SC Power site and they do a Trumpet Base insulator gasket ... and Plenum Spacer, Insulating gasket and extended bolts ... and Plenum Spacer, Insulating gasket, extended bolts and Bell Mouth Trumpets.

Can't find anything on Magna Parva except magnaparva.com which is aerospace and consultancy - not grubby bits for Tivs.

I'll wait for a bit to see if 350matt picks up on this before I disturb him.

Thanks all.

Looks like Magna Parva has changed the website - the insulator used to be listed there but always looked a little out of place! I enquired about it a year ago and never got around to ordering. Back then the cost was £50 including VAT and delivery.

Looking at the SC Power pages the all in one deal with the spacer and bell mouths looks pretty good value.
Without wishing to hijack, does anybody have experience of fitting this with the insulator as a complete kit?

The Range Rover plenum was designed for the 3.9 ltr engines and thus has that capacity. The idea of the spacer is to increase the initial charge capacity to match the 5 ltr engine. I doubt it would make a noticeable difference in throttle response on a 4.XX engine.
Their insulating gasket as said above, does work well at keeping the charge cool (and thus more torque).
If you are interested in fitting the trumpet bell mouths (basically converts the std scaffold tubes into Act style trumpets) give me a call as I have a new set we didn't fit as my trumpets were TVR specials and they didn't fit.

No, actually that is them. The RV8 plenum isolator used to be in their 'Motorsport' section.

R/R and early precats had 38mm trumpet tubes, later cars had 46mm to 47mm tapered trumpet tube iirc.
My heads & trumpet base/inlet manifold had been breathed on by TVR-Power prior to the car leaving the factory, and my trumpets are bigger again (48-49mm) so the bell mouths were too small.

There's a lot more to it than that, eg heat soak. Isn't the standard plenum the one designed for the 3528cc? IIRC the larger the plenum the better the ultimate power but the slower the throttle response so you need to choose a balance. trumpet length also comes into this. Hopefully Matt will be along son to explain things more clearly.

I guess the Magna Parva ones are a higher quality than the cheaper SC-Power items? I've never seen either so it's a genuine question based on the cost difference.

Thanks

Ref; insulator, go for it.
Ref; plenum spacer, don't bother.
The latter cocks up throttle response and causes the motor to 'bog down' [hesitate] experimented with mine [with/without] and I come down on the side that the increased volume is wrong side of butterfly [throttle]
PS; just my experience, dont want arguement, just trying to help.
PPS; go with 'magna parva' guys. [cheap]
