I shredded my serpertine belt today, following a period of loosing water for no obvious reason. While the belt is off I noticed the water pump has play in the bearing. Next weekend I intend to change the water pump, before it starts leaking. To remove all the bolts do I have to remove the crank shaft pulley? I can't see underneath it.

You only need to remove the pulley on the pump if you want, it is possible to get the pump off without - but you need to change the pulley over to the new pump so might as well have the easier access..

They're just later LR/RR 4.0/4.6 water pumps (much easier to look up than the intermediate serp 3.9's - the pump is the same part)

Thanks for that information Dave. I've got the pulley off the pump already and I'll take the old belt with me to match it up. RR 4.0/4.6 pump it is then.thumbup
