Plug Extenders...
Discussion
Have searched and checked out prices BUT who has the best Spark Plug Extenders.
They range from around £4 each INC to just over £9 each INC.
Did the check around engine bay in the dark for any little sparks.
Leads were good ( Jamie at Castle Race Engines ) but found every one of the plug extenders had little blue dancing fairies around the collars....
Only a year old but guess they take some stick...
Cheers.

They should last more than a year. My current ones were supplied by Austec about 4 years ago and still fine. One broke recently, looks like it was hit by a stone so I bought a full set from ACT as their price is very good.
ETA if they have all broken down it must be running very rough. WHen I had the one broken one it caused a sporadic misfire and was like driving a lawnmower....

Car was running fine up until thursday night.
Had changed the engine mounts the weekend before and I guess jacking the engine had dislodged two offside leads.
Went to the Oxfordshire tvrcc meeting and car was stood on damp grass for couple of hours, whether this would have been a factor I'm not sure.
Anyway put the two loose leads fully home on Friday and engine sounds better but still not right.
Have ordered a set of plug extenders from Act so will see this week.
I'm going to measure the resistance of the old against the new too.
Oh and checked receipts the existing extenders are THREE years old so I must be losing it... D'oh.

In all honesty I don't think it really matters if they're resistive or not, typically the level of resistance in an ignition lead will reduce the spark voltage but it also tends to increase the spark duration.
So you can either have a shorter more intense spark to get things going or a lower intensity but longer duration spark to get things going.
There's a case for both approaches, but in reality I doubt you could measure the difference on a dyno let alone a rolling road.

Ok.... New extenders from ACT turned up today.
They are the Beru ones and put the existing ones to shame.
The ones taken off are completely free of any manufacturing marks and to be honest looked pretty naff compared to the Beru ones.
The Beru ones have a thick shoulder before the metal shroud, I'm sure this is where the old ones were arcing as the shroud is so close to the end of the plug lead.
Well I measured the Beru ones and they are UNresistive.
The pile of s
te ones all measured differently, some were zero while a couple reached around 4 to 5 ohms..
BONUS....Found a db meter on my multimeter so had a play, at idle the exhaust note hit 96.5 db and at 2k rpm 106.2 db.
Anyway engine now sweet as, smooth running and good throttle response but need to give it a run to double check..

Get an OHMs meter

Smartarse..... do us a a favour and when you get a chance, whip one of your unresisted items off and measure the resistance through yours (all will have some resistance obviously) just so i have a figure to compare to

possibly not till tomorrow, intersting Gunshot that those Buru ones you have are UNresistive

solid cored,as far as i know the resisted ones are Buru only.
