Hi Guys

Need to remove the centre consol on my Pre-Cat,the main earth to the chassis has a high resistance between the battery connection and the earthing bolt.My question is where is the adjuster that I need to slacken off to get the handbrake in the vertical position.Removed the drivers side rear wheel to have a look but cant see it the handbrake cables seem to disappear up above the diff is this where the adjuster is, if so how do I get at it.

Any help gratefully received.

yes mate you`re in the right place, just get your hand up there and you should find the cable adjuster, give it plenty of wd40 so the plastic nuts turn easy on the threads.

My precat has two knurled white plastic nuts which you have to undo. Quite big chunky things so you should be able to see them with a torch.
I think one is a lock nut so wind that back as far as you can first. I also have some sort of plastic/rubber bit covering the cable behind the lock nut. It has a split in it so it can be pulled off and the nuts can be backed off.
You have to wind back a hell of a lot to get the handbrake up enough.

I don't know if it's the same on the older models but on my 500 I just lift the wire out of the guide behind rear wheel area, this gives enough slack to lift the handbrake up enough to get console off. And saves faffing around with the adjuster..

Thanks for the info Im on it in the morning, hopefully get the consol out of the way to get at the main chassis earth and get to the bottom of my starting probs.Measured the resistance of the cable and its about 1.1k ohms not good, even the dash clock wont run DOH! Must get this sorted great weather today could have been out there in the Griff.
