Hi

I've just picked up my Griff 400 today and it appears to have the factory fit Gemini alarm and I am trying to determine if it is thatcham approved for insurance purposes.

I'm sure one of you guys or gals has been through this and can hopefully offer some advice .....

The key fob has a single button opposed to the black and red buttons on the later Griffs. There are no model numbers on the fob but does anyone know the model and / or if it is thatcham approved before I start getting dirty looking for the unit?

Cheers

Either take your car or remote to your local alarm /stereo fitter... most good places will be able to tell by the remote alone.. cheers GOLDIE

I do believe the Gemini is NOT Thatcham approved. For around 250 queens fit the latest cat 1 clifford

Just my opinion MadMax but i would not recommended Clifford to my worst enemy very temperamental and false alarms are rife,i have known very few people happy with a Clifford alarm system,Square eyes your original Gemini is not Thatcham approved i am afraid thumbup

I've never quite got to the bottom of the alarm on my 92 Griff but here are my thoughts.

It seems to have a combination of a Gemini and Selca system. The instuctions I have here are for both.

The proximity sensor is certainly Gemini. I know this because we were watching it activate when we first put the car back together and it wouldn't start (alarm got its knicks in a knot)
The picture of the siren in the Gemini flysheet looks like mine too, but the remote controls are Selca for certain.

Here is the awkward bit though. The SELCA sheet says its a SELCA Cat 1 alarm. Whether thats Thatcham Cat 1 or just the SELCA name for the unit I don't know.
The Gemini flysheet has nothing at all about its Thatcham rating.
My honest guess is I have a Selca alarm coupled to a Gemini proximity sensor.

For information, the Gemini sheet shows a remote control box which is square and has two buttons - one red, one black.

If you want copies of the documents I have PM me and I'll scan and email you them.

Bloody hell, I'd forgotten I'd done that. Well that's the Gemini document I have in its entirety.
Nice one Simon thumbup
Perhaps I should sit and type up the Selca one for your records Simon.

Cheers all. As I suspected it doesn't sound like a thatcham alarm
