Hi all,

I am trying to fit a roll cage to my 1999 Griff and am trying to find out what thread and size bolts will fit the two original mounting points under the rear parcel shelf......

I have the holes cut out ok, but i havnt found anything in my garage yet that seems a good match....can anyone out there help ?

Cheers

Try calling Neil Garner who has fitted loads of roll bars, he had to tap the threadout as they'd got a fair bit of crap in over the years.

I'm sure they are the same thread as a seatbelt bolt, something like 1/2" or 5/8" UNF I think.

Seatbelt bolts are usually 7/16 UNF (I have no idea what the answer to the OP's question is though)

Thanks zombeh, 7/16 UNF was the size I was trying to remember, and as FFG said it would be best to run a tap through the thread first to clean out any crud.

Thanks guys

I spoke to Neil Garner earlier as suggested by FFG, and he was really helpful with the information.....and for anyone else who might need to know in future they are 7/16 UNF. Also as suggested by Neil the threads definately needed cleaning out...which i done by grinding three slots up the threads of a spare bolt, and using that as a makeshift tap...works good for just cleaning out threads if you dont have a tap.

Cage now fitted and looks spot on

Cheers

Ian

Any pics of the cage? Where did you get it from?
