Pre cat battery to the engine bay?
Discussion
With all this talk of moving batteries to give the passenger more legroom, has anybody with a precat thought of, or actually done, a move of the battery to the engine bay?
Seems to me we have space, but I know heat is a battery killer. But we now have some great heat insulation stuff so it got me to wondering...

Where were you thinking of putting it?
The only space I could see that would be big enough is behind the radiator and infront of teh 'Y' peice and that would be wrong for so many reasons I could think of, not least the heat you've mentioned but spoiling the airflow through the rad and blocking the air circulating round the engine.

Well thats the spot I was thinking of V8 GRF.
Would a battery of the size we've got really spoil the airflow that much?
And in a battery box covered in the heat protection material we have to protect the battery would that protect it? Seems to do a good enough job on the inner wings.
Thought I'd just provoke some thought but it doesn't seem to have ignited anyones imagination.
