Removing spring/damper units.
Discussion
I need to replace the spring/damper units on the rear suspension of my '97 500. According to some threads I have read I should use spring compressors PRIOR to removing the assembly from the car. Why is this, or am I misunderstanding the instruction? Surely with both wheels off the ground the spring/damper assembly is at its maximum extension and I can then safely remove both mounting bolts. Could it be that the driveshaft is preventing enough extension to remove the unit? On my old Europa you just jacked it up, removed both bolts and off it came. Would welcome some advice on this. Thanks in advance for your help.
I had a proper look an AntonyJ's car at Chatsworth.
It took me less time to look than it too him to open the bonnet. Aint nuffin to blinking look at.
Oh, hang on, yes there was.
Some nice HT leads with grippy covers on the spark plug end. Liked them Ant.
And the timing wheel for his emerald setup, which I expected to be more complicated, or at least a pretty green colour
