Beware of shite engine mounts

Just a freindly tip that there appears to be two different engine mounts out there.

Those that work, and those that don't





I replaced mine 2 years ago whist rebuilding my engine, and the nearside mount has completely sheared already

( I know my car is seriously quick but that's due to the driver and not any massive additional horsepower )

It will probably always be that one due to the extra heat due to downpipe and pulling forces due to engine rotation / torque

I have been informed that the origonal TVR ones are OK but the are some pattern ones out there that are clearly ste

I have chatted to the very nice people at SC Power who now do upgraded mounts ( due to their superchargers ripping out mounts like they are going out of fashion ) and now have a pair of Black Road / Track mounts that are Polyurethane and have the metal top and bottom reinforcing to them.

Not the cheapest but I'm hoping you get what you pay for. Linky for those interested

No signs of any additional transfer of vibration

I resited the temptation to "but it now" on a shiny new 'charger ( for now )

Another for the SC Power ones, fitted some a while back and very pleased.

They (SC power) also make very nice orange mounts

I like the fact that the SC Power mounts are captive, as well as stiffening them up (they're made from a relatively soft compound) I hope that it will limit the engine travel if the mounts do ever fail at any point.

It appears that the cost of the SC units are near as damn it the same price as standard mounts

So for me it's abit of a no-brainer

Yep,i also fitted patterns that lasted bugger all and they are ste went for the SC Power reds and no problems at all,little bit trickier to fit but i have a 2 poster at work so

I always found the pulley cutting into the swirl pot swan neck & pissing coolant all over the HT leads/Dizzy hence suddenly running like a pig a dead give away

I ripped a few nearsides

Fitted the (test) restraints before SC started doing the poly mounts & not had a problem yet

Actually that reminds me i was supposed to getting some cheap polly ones
