Leak - any idea's ?

Grateful for any advice, after having some work done and my griff serviced it has developed a leak, the liquid / oil / brake fluid / fuel is leaking from somewhere adjacent to the rear passenger wheel, any ideas ?

I know it should go straight back to the garage, but it's not my usual one and a bit of a trek, so if i could rectify myself it would save me time.

Possibly fuel lines to the pump or the fuel filter both items located in that vicinity can you smell petrol ?

In any case that's what i would check for first.

It may help if you tel us what work you have had done, as has been said it could be fuel if so you would be able to smell it very easily. if its more of an oil then it could be brake fluid or perhaps diff oil, there is not realy any other oil based fluids at the rear.
failing all the above have you had something leaking in your boot?

The drip has landed on newspaper, but I can't smell petrol. I have had another look and can see the brake hose joining the caliper and that appears dry, so hopefully not the brakes.

The drip appears to be landing approx 6 - 8" in from the wheel(could that location be linked to fuel) I've tasted it and it doesn't taste of much and it doesn't feel to oily to touch but then again doesn't feel like water.

Any more thoughts..

I was trying to avoid giving a clue about who the garage was by not saying what work i'd had done as apart from the 6k service the rest would probably make it easy to work out who it was, but they shouldn't have been working around the rear passenger wheel except for anything relating to the service.

And this problem may not have been caused by them just bad timing. I'll have a look in the boot, but I didn't notice anything at the weekend that looked like it had leaked.

Just measured 6 to 8 inch from the inside of the wheel and i would have thought that was not far enough into the chassis to be the fuel pump or the filter.
I wonder if you have a leaky shock absorber

If i was you i would jack it up remove the wheel and take a closer look failing that nip it back to the guys who did the work.

Thanks a lot, didn't expect you to be in the garage scrabbling around. I have nitrons, hope its not that sounds pricey and Le Mans is only round the corner !!

Nitron maintenance very reasonable! I fractured the top mounting point in my prang last year and only paid £50 for the shock rebuild

That sounds pretty good, whereabouts ? Mind you that may be irrelevant now. I have just been back out and shone a torch up from where some of the fluid landed and it appears to cross a brake line.

Best option stop soddin around and get underneath tomorrow and have a look....

All i will say is i took the time to look into your question to see if i could help, but surely you could have done a wee bit more research yourself first???
