BTR Diff Breather Up Grade ?

I would like to improve this area on the diff has anyone done anything to improve this ?

I would like to add a breather pipe with a filter on the end

Can anyone tell me what the hole size and type of thread is so i can get something so i can clip a pipe too it please.

Have no thread gauges Clive and not sure if it is imperial or metric but thanks for the help anyway

This doesn’t really help you a lot but ... I struggled to find a bolt, fitting or dye that was the correct thread. In the end I found a part with the correct thread in a box of odds and ends that had come from an American customer. I drilled and tapped a hole in the bolt to take a 90 degree 6mm od pipe fitting (the initial pipe size can not be a lot thicker than that and clear the chassis) the 6mm then joins to a length of 8mm with the original breather valve on the end.

I was talking to an E type restorer who said that some of the Etype Diffs threw all their oil out. He fixes it by putting a splash plate inside to stop oil that is thrown about from coming directly out the hole. That seemed a good solution but have not had the back off yet to see if it is practical inside the BTR.

Was the axle used by Land Rover by any chance?
They have breather tubes that you can attach pipes to so you can get the breather out of mud and water if you're wading.

I think only the 4wd versions of the Griff had the landy axle.

Just to add the pipe is now cable tied in the wheel arch using a self adhesive cable tie base stuck so the pipe is as high as possible. It been on over a year now and no more leaks.
