pre cat griff,better to drive?

i have driven a few griff 500s in the past,but today i got to try a pre cat griff.I couldn't belive how nice it was to drive.As anybody else found this,or maybe the griff i drove today was just a good un

Went from a 500 to a 4.5 BV pre cat recently. The pre cat does feel a bit more special, revs very freely and jsut feels more of a sportscar. having said that, mines quite modified, so that probably accounts for it..

hi, i had a 4.3 precat for 8 years,loved it to bits. free revving,very fast, i drove quite a few 500's and was always quite dissapointed at how restricted they felt, anyway i finally swapped for a 95 500 as i wanted more power,only to find the cam had worn,it was only producing 240 bhp so pretty gutted., anyway getting to the point. new cam, carbon tripple plenumb, complete decat,remap,
and hey presto! 320 bhp 330 lbs/ft, faster and smoother with total free revving precat feel,oh and did i mention it sounds like the devil clearing his throat! all the good bits about a precat but no heater/blower woe's of the early cars, i love all the precats because thats where i started, but i feel that i have got it just right in what i have done to my car, best of both worlds!!

Oh yes.

Add internal balance and cross-bolting for extra free reving feel and mapped ignition so it's pulling silky smooth from tickover to 6 grand.

Precat on steroids feeling.

sorry did i say how good the pre cat griff was to drive. what i meant to say was that it was awful, and anybody thinking of buying one sould get a 500 instead. ( i'm still saving for my griff,but i'll be looking for a nice early car now)
