That was a seriously good post thumbup

I'm pretty hacked off now though because those wishbones you are replacing look fine to me and a bit like the ones on my car that I'm going to have a go at this winter!!
Maybe a bit of surface rust & some flaky paint, but did thay really need replacing? scratchchin

If those wishbones are decent would it be worth getting them blasted & powder coated & sold to offset the cost of the new ones?

nice post Andy, I`d be interested in those old ones though mate, thinking of next years project, (havent finished this years yet), would like to make a jig up and see about making a set in stainless using some tube, and including an adjustor for the top ball joint to set the camber angle.

could take them off you at the growl if I manage to get this damned car finished in time.

Probably do-able but I can't be arsed, and Ash is a lazy bugger when it comes to stuff like that.. So I can see em ending up in the bin..

Or

scratchchin On PH Classifieds for beer money and whoever ends up with em can sort em out
I will give you descent beer money for them smile

Ive just done all of mine but would really like some spares to clean up and keep just in case

Excellent Pics Quinny, just in the process of doing my front wishbones. A bit surprised you did not also replace the ball joints while the wishbones were dismantled, £100 would do the lot and if the cars done 100K they probably need doing anyway.

who organises the Tuscan series makes much stronger wishbones fabricated from tube not bent tin. To fit both Griffith and Chimeras. Will go this route next time as they are claimed to stiffen up the suspension considerably. No doubt others are aware of them?

Cheers budsmile.. Just a bit of fun, and if it helps someone have a go with there own car, all the better.

That side took me 5 hours, I wasn't rushing and all but one bolt (there's always 1 isn't there)rolleyeshehe Came out cleanly.. The stuck one gave up the fight eventuallyhehe

The old joints are aching now thoughfrown But I'm hoping I can do the otherside in 4 to 4.5 hours..

Then onto the back ones.. That should be fun as I've got to swap the bushes in the uprights as well..

I'll do some pics of the back ones if anyone's interested
My puller does the uprights in situ easily smile

The consensus of opinion among the sprinters (after someone suffered a wishbone failure at Prescott) was that they're not really a very good idea for road cars. The standard 'bones are designed to be sacrificial in the case of an accident, absorbing impact energy. The tubular 'bones feed that energy into the chassis, which is going to cost a *lot* more to put right.

Top write-up. thumbup
If I had the tools, space, time and inclination I'd have a go. redface Even so, I still found it interesting and I admire those members of our little community who not only do it themselves, but share the experience so we can all learn.
