Exhaust Manifold Bolts

I cant find previous threads on this but I know there are some.

My exhaust manifold (header) bollts seem to work loose and I get a blow where the header joins the block. I am using composite gaskets but am not keen on doing the bolts up too tight for fear of stripping the aluminium thread in the block.

What do people use to stop the bolts working loose and where do you get them from?

A useful tip I learned not that long ago, for searching this site when the SEARCH function seems to have fecked off to search for something it put in a drawer or something.

google is your friend
On the Google search bar type this

site:www.pistonheads.co.uk arp bolts

This will search only PH for "ARP" "BOLTS"
I searched for this because I couldn't remember the damned name of the locking washers I have fitted but I could remember the name of the SS 3/8 head bolts I fitted and at the time the locking washers were being discussed too.

You need page 2 BTW

Which size did you get? And did you get stailess bolts to go with them

The rep was in and had a small selection in his car so I used half 10mm and half 3/8"
ARP stainless bolts as the link above.

Was a while ago PF so don't remember tbh. I think they were all sourced separately and think the Nord-loks came direct from the supplier.

Its also worth buying a 3/8 UNC end / bottom tap and cleaning all the threads before you start, you can typically get a another 2-3 threads deeper into the head if you finish tap the holes and use a slightly longer bolt.
