In association with 5.0ltr, FlipFlopGriff, Mrs FlipFlopGriff and 2Munkys, Mrs5FlipMunkys presentations proudly anounces for 2009: The Growl Camaro Desert Challenge!
Well, assuming nothing goes wrong between now and Friday to f**k it all up.
Not only is it a Challenge but it's a bit of a gamble because it's gonna cost you a £1 a go to take part; we need your money for the charity. And I'm expecting everyone to have at least one go! There's booze to be won so of course you will; and I know you want to be generous!
In essence, it's a driving sim' game which will be held on the lawn under the cover of canvas (Friday and Saturday). There are two seats available so you can compete head-to-head if you so wish. It's nothing state-of-the-art, just two 32" screens and two Wii's. It is fun though so just turn up, put your pound in the tin and drive.
You'll be racing this gorgeous lump of Stateside V8 ironmongery (Chevy Camaro SS):

Myself and Fastandunstable (Stew) have been putting this test of skill and daring through hours and hours and hours and hours of rigorous trial purely for your benefit and entertainment. It's not easy, believe me; though I've managed 4 minutes 30.98 seconds. If you make it to the end of this timed trial you've done well.
It's intended that at close-of-play on Saturday that the two quickestcombatants competitors will go head-to-head for a final driving dual (assuming they're still about, if not there'll be a re-think).

What Bruce has not said is that he will be travelling up a day earlier to get this all set up. I know some of the work Bruce has put into this behind the scenes, if you are Growling it would be nice to see this bit of fun supported if you can.

That's my understanding too. I can't imagine the Growl without those two; kinda like a Growl without the Rain. It's a shame the Rain Men can't make it.FFG

Everything was going really well when i did it for real...until the Courasel 
...sims are great but you get no idea of gradients and how rough the surface can be, I went in a bit hot and nearly lost two fillings riding the bowl, and went totally airborn as it spat me out the other end 
Thought I'd better bang the results of this up and say a thankyou to all that put a £1 or more in the tin (or a tenner in Bluebottles case). Those that volunteered the £1 and those that were forcibly made to do so.
Lord Grover was the first one up at 11:40 on the Friday; he was also the last on the Friday too as we all popped over to the White Horse after that and got drunk!
Saturday morning kicked things off again under the Army Canvas and it soon became evident that some had skill in the cyber arena and that some didn't . . . . at all (Chinquechento
). Some were extremely competitive and took winning very seriously (I'd hate to be up-against Hamish in anything).
Anyway, as Saturday progressed the times were dropping: Big Rob Pack banging in sub 5:20's and Trevster managing a blistering 5:11.99. Trevsters time stood for most of the afternoon but he was eventually knocked off the contenders spot, unable to regain a top-two position. Then within an hour of closing Square Eyes (an apt name) whacked in a 4:31.21 which remained unbeaten. No one was going to better that but he had to leave before the final shoout-out. It was suggested that perhaps he could walk off with 3 bottles of the prize but was kind enough to donate that to the auction (thankyou, good man).
In the end the shoot-out would go down to Bluebottle (a real world track-day warrior) who put in a 4:56.86 and Royceybaby (Gameboy Generation) with a 5:02.33.
From the 'off' these guys were neck-and-neck all the way with no one taking more than a second or two's lead at any stage. In the end Bluebottle eventually ran dry of Nitrous and just managed to 'Total' his car with a huge 'f**k-off' smack-up as Royceybaby crossed the line. Well done guys, that was a stunning performance from both of ya! Don't remember the time; something like 4:58.
Credit to Royceybaby for surrendering one of his bottles of 'Griffy Park' to Bluebottle . . . . . . who couldn't be found at the presentation so it went to auction; sorry Hamish and thankyou for the kindness you didn't know you had.
