Its a 14x cru from memory, is this the same as the range rover one or did TVR play with it at all ?
It's a 14cux, TVR replaced the contents of the rom, all tvrs have socketed roms but I don't think all rover ones do, just get a rover one that's got a socket and swap the chips.I think it's the same as any hotwire range rover but there may be age related differences, when I was chasing a misfire on my v8s and tried a different ecu (the one from dnb's 500) his had a bodge wire fitted in it where they'd decided to fix something but not redesign the board, The car ran exactly the same with the griff ecu (with my rom chip fitted) even though his had all the lambda nonsense in it for cats.
Far as I can tell there are only 2 basic ECU types out there. There is a major circuit change around mid 1991, and although all the 14CUX ECU's can run both catalyst and non catalys maps, if you swap fuel chips between these different revison boards the car will run really badly. If you drop me an email, Ill send you a pdf on how to identify the difference (Thanks to Mark Adams). The early Lucas ECU's (up to around 1992-3 did not have pluggable chips, so TVR had to modify them by cutting the standard chip out and fitting a socket.
More generally, if you look at the external sensors these have not changed at all function wise over the whole life of the 14cux, so you can swap ECUs around with doing any damage, although I think some extra functions may have been added to the later ECU's but the TVR may well not make use if them. I also suspect many of the part number changes are also down to the case fittings. Cost wise sensible prices are between £25 and £60 for a Rangie unit, so dont be fooled by paying "TVR" prices.

ks so I'm afraid you'll have to wait for someone far more qualified
I wish they would fit in my garage
, I guess i could alway knock the garage down and rebuild a bigger one
