As I'm fairly new to tvr's I keep reading various posts and ads and seeing different specs and things, one thing that I've noticed is the "big valve" conversion on some ads, reading about this it seems that sometimes people are putting this in the ad without really knowing if it is or isn't.

Is there a sure fire way of checking if it is "big valve" or not.

If the serial engine number ends in V its a factory BV
or ring TVR with the engine number and for £25 they will verify its heritage.A BV sign on the plenium chamber means nothing.

I've seen some engines with stock rover valves and some with the big valves at 43mm inlets/37mm exhausts which is probably as far as you can go before you start off setting the guides. I reckon you need to know the car's history as well as it's serial number.
