I have a significant leak, probably from the small U shaped pipe beneath the power steering pump [a common fault according to the bible]. I have already tried tightening the clips but they seem to be as tight as possible.
Is it worth replacing the U shaped pipe and its clips?

I have this on the Chim - tho my leak is slight. I've tried really tightening up the clips which cured it for 3-4 weeks but it's weeping again. My next plan is to remove the "U" and wrap the ends in that self-amalgamating rubber tape and then try again.

there may be enough slack to cut the last 10mm (damaged bit) off the old pipe and reconnect.

best to replace though...not that expensive and its the low pressure side, so no real hassle. Pirtek will do the hose...should be about £30-00 for 2m.

cheers

Worth getting some decent clips that have a strong band. The normal jubilee clips are not upto the job. The pipe is basically hydraulic hose and costs around £5 per metre from a hydraulic hose stockist like Regent Hose and Hydraulics. they also sell the good clips.
