I did get it right/wrong - sort of...!

Hi Guys

OK, heater controls. I posted a question a while back about the controls as I thought they were'nt working properly but I couldn't figure out why. (Griff 500' 95')

Anyway, long story short, the knob that controls the fan speed and the heated mirrors doesn't seem to work. If the heated mirrors are on (the LED is on) then the fan blows (hot or cold) air but if the heated mirrors are off then I get nothing.

Equally, the heated mirrors turn on and off at random at their own behest. Someone said that they turn themselves off if the door is opened but that also doesn't seem to be the case. So, in the middle of summer I've nice toasty warm mirrors and even hotter feet.

So, before I blow my usually maintenece budget on odour eaters and cool packs for the family jewels, any ideas as to why this is happening and suggestions as to where to look ?!?!

Can you hear the various servos doing their stuff if you operate them with the engine off? Might give a clue as to what's going on.

Sounds like some sort of bad connection on that switch. I've heard tell of problems with the ribbon cable that connects the panel back to the controller so that maybe your problem.

They're working fine though the knob on the temp' just turns and turns ...

Try replacing the ribbon cable(s). I had an annoying problem with my heater valve constantly rotating and it turned out to be the cable inside the dash.

Sounds like your heater pot has gone too.
