Thanks for that , is it possible for the owner to put another plate on it ? I understand that the Cat' whatever it was' will remain on the documentation ?

No interest in the car by the way apart from the fact that it is a Griff of course ! Just out if gerneral interest.

Definatley not has to remain on a Q-plate

I got threatened with a Q plate recently and was wondering if it’s worth getting one.

Apparently the plates I have failed to show up on his ANPR and if you keep getting ticketed for this, DVLA take away your normal number and give you a Q plate.

If I had a number that they couldn’t readily notice the year, it might be cheaper and would save buying a pre-73 plate.

And the ANPR on average speed cameras still wouldn’t be able to read me.

Uncle Fester i think its a 3 time hit with the Q plate thing,i was stopped recently for my so called letter box front plate(his words not mine)and he gave me a lesson,still skipped the fine at least

went to court for second capture... court costs + fine ... now legal ... must admit getting tempted on dodgy spacing but legal type.

The BIB said it was the fact it was all non-reflective that stopped his ANPR 'seeing' my plates.

I have a black car with black plates and silver letters, sticky on front.

The government is introducing (at vast expense to the taxpayers) a wonderful new ANPR system.

It's been decided that what we all want is an ANPR camera every mile on every motorway in the UK.

Then we can have signs telling us how long it might take to reach the next junction.

Variable speed limit will be controlled by this too.

The government has even promised each index number will be encrypted.

So it won't be a giant national average speed camera system with pay per mile motorway tolls.



Sometimes this government is so good to me, I think I don't deserve them.
