I have a Rollcentre roll bar in my 93 precat and I think it's quite a tidy looking thing tel 01480 464052 has been in a while so not sure if tel no is still valid

Has anyone ever fitted one which allows the drivers seat to still go all the way back? Or perhaps I'd need to fit some different seats with a more curved back?

I'd consider a roll bar in our Griff but don't want to reduce my leg room.

Thanks

Ruari

The rollcentre roll bar does not impede seat travel at all,it is mounted on the rear shelf not the footwell

My TR lane roll bar mounts to the floor, the seat still goes back but is squeezed a little. Im about 5'10 and its ok for clearance with my helmet on but i guess anyone a little taller might be banging their skidlid on the bar on trackdays and such.
Im at Shakey and Roar this weekend if anyone wants to see.

Would the twin hoop or 'GT' roll bar be better structurally?

And are they hard to fit yourself?

I have a roll centre rear roll cage in my Griffith. It clamps to the chassis rails beneath the rear parcel shelf.

As previously mentioned it does not reduce legroom at all.

Cheers

hi lewis, the twin hoop design in my opinion is near useless as the hoops follow the seat head rest and as such when you are sat in the car are at neck level and not over the top of your head.not much use if you have a problem unless you are able to lay yourself flat accross the tunnel double quick time.

Which is a significant improvement over nothing.

You sure that's right? The hoops look well above average neck height to me and I can't believe T R Lane would not have made them the same height as their single bar design.

i was only offering my personel opinion of some of the hooped bars out there for sale and can,t comment on individual makes the photo shows a mates roll over hoop fitted to a chim that in my opinion does not work.in the safty issue i would only buy one that is higher than the top of your head.i agree somethink is better than nothink.

That's so low it's nigh on useless. Why go to the bother and expense of fitting it if it's going to be at chin height? I don't see any reason not to have extended that up to the underside of the rear hoop, where it would be high enough to do some good.

I've seen HCM's car many times and not even noticed the hoops. I agree with wadsapple - no use as roll bar(s) though may improve rigidity.

He has, after we talked about it, replaced the hoop design for the goal post type.He did not even think at the time of purchase to ask what height the bars would be at,well in all honesty nor would i have done.he ended up having to buy twice at his cost, which is why i was drawing Lewis,s attention to the problem with the hoops.

I would go as far as to say that it is dangerous. In a rear end impact or a spin off crash backwards then the top of the hope appears to be in the most vulnerable place regards the back of your skull.

I am not a fan of Roll cages in non racing cars unless they are as a minimum used with 4 point harnesses to prevent any body movement. The risk of injusry from the cage itself negates its use as a roll over protection device in my opinion.

I have the rollcenter one that is built to racing specs although not certified. The problem that has been brought up in the past with the hoops is that they have little strength if just hopped singularly behind each seat. Although better than nothing it is suggested they may bend in a roll over situation which may cause you more damage. However some have addressed this and have a bar that joins them across the top of the transmission tunnel along with strenghening back bars.

Blimey, just seen this thread.

Quite right, the first was usless!

T.R. Lane then made the current one that is the tallest you can get!

I am 6-2" with Elise seats and the seat isn't all the way back and I can just use a helmet with the roof on.
