Griff Growl

I know, I know I shouldn't of.... but I had a little sneak into the Zoo forum next door.

I was shocked to read about how badly the ROAR event was attended, approx 75 cars over the weekend and looking at the attendance it would sugest most were day visitors I feel sorry for the organisors as I know a lot of hard work goes into to sorting venues, traders etc and this is all someones voluntered tim.

What I'm trying to say....... YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I'm lucky to own a Griff and be part of the community that have them...... the Growl is testamont to the owners which on the the whole is well attended as a weekend event.... be it raining, or recession.

I am privilaged ... I look forward to the Growl and have made some great mates, had some great chats over a pint or two or a tecquila n salt ..... Thankyou all for making The Growl an EVENT

not sure where I'm really going with this thread with out saying YEAHHHHH Griff owners are great

Indeed and they had great weather. I feel for Angus who gave the following figures. 'Final count we had 33 cars on Saturday and 42 cars on Sunday.' So the 75 Cars was cumultative over the weekend, I would have gone home from Growl if we only had 33 cars! Poor show from the Chimp boys IMHO.

Yes it's a real shame for the organisers and the traders who turn up not to be supported by the owners. I wouldn't be surprised if a good number of the traders refuse to attend next year.

Speaking to several traders at the Growl they said that it was THE best TVR event every year and where the most money was spent, whay that says about Griff owners and their cars I'm not sure but it definately shows we're not afraid to put our hands in our pockets and drive our cars.

That is a shame; the organisers must be very dissapointed, especially as the weather was so good. I can't understand the low attendance when there's a 3 to 1 Chim/Griff ratio; I'm sure that Chim owners are as passionate and enthusiastic about their steed's as we are so can't figure this one out.

I hope that this annual celebration doesn't die; that wouldn't be something for anyone to rejoice in.

I sadly didnt manage to attend this years growl, but will be there for the coming ones come hell or high water.

Is the difference in attendence down to the different type of owners ?

I notice that the Griff owners are all very supportive and helpful, it is a small club and everyone seems to enjoy being a part. But when the Chimp boys chat it seems less of a club.
They obviously have a lot of members who just drive a noisy car and thats it. They seem to not be as fanatical and enthusiastic as the Griff boys. This may be down to the larger numbers and the broader appeal of the model. (as in cheaper and more available) I know there are few who are eqally as passionate but it does seem to be the minority, not the majority as with the Griff.

Quite frankly, I think you're talking out of your arse. Having had an S, a Chimaera and now running a Griffith there has been no difference in the amount of support or the club aspect.

Personally I have little interest in single marque meets and even less in single model meets - I'm a car enthusiast so like to see different things.

I'd agree with that as I mentioned above the traders notice a difference as well, I think there are more Chimaeras in the hands of people who bought them because they're a (British) Sports car with a big engine and would equally be happy owning something else with the same grunt/appeal. IMO opinion of course and not speaking through my nether regions

I think it might have had more to do with the weather and some of the content of the event... Black Tie dinner and proposed team activities (which I guess never took place).

The weather was a lot better than we had at the Growl so that's not really an excuse. Keith you don't fall into the group of Chim owners being referred to as you do attend events on a regular basis.

P.S. I went to the Roar event and had a good time. I agree it should have been better attended for the traders' sake and for Angus & Carmen as organisers. I only hope it was due to the venue/location & not to waning interest in the marque.

yeeahhhhhhhh billy bob..... this was ment noway as a dig at the marque....... I really do feel sorry for the lack of support, but knowing how good the Growl is i would say its more disapointment.

Yep missed a few H&B's..... regretfully, but somethings can't be avoided......

Angus moved the venue further south after many requests from those soft southerners who didn't want to travel to the midlands for Roar. Well they voted with their feet, I hope Roar moves and remains a midlands event from now on.

Daventry is pretty central TBH.
Could understand if it was on the south coast or Scotland so don't believe the location contributed. Numbers are generally down this year, I guess down to people tightening their belts and limiting their event attendance.
It's hard to know which formula will work the best but give Angus credit for stepping up to organise it. BTW when does he get his Griff?
