Coolant Temp' Gauge gone pop!

My Coolant Temp' Gauge isn't letting-on. It started reading about 40 Deg. below and now the needle just can't be ar5ed to leave the stop . It's not the sender because I've swapped that for one known to be working. So, unless I find something obvious in the wiring I'm either after a new item or someone capable of undertaking the repair. Anyone?

hi Bruce, found these people while looking for a new tacho, the gauge is cheap enough, but not with the right bezel, but you can swap them over so the clocks all match up.

Thanks Clive, I may drop 'em a line; wondering if the gauge would need calibrting to the sender. Ideally I'd get the original gauge fixed. Dunno if the OE manufacturer are still in business.

I've recently had some gauge issues too, mine started reading sometimes 0,and sometimes 67-68 instead of 87-88 when the fans kicked in. Turned out to be a faulty earth behind the dash, might be worth checking out first.

Ta, wilco, dash gotta come out whatever. I'll update when I've had a shufty. I think 'Power' are able to fix (or have fixed) the instruments if it has gone belly-up.

ETB are also the repairers for the for the early type instruments. The workmanship is good. I think they are the place other TVR specialists send stuff to be repaired.

They’re very helpful to talk to, and knowledgeable. They also sell a thread adaptor and sender matched to the gauge. This screws into a different place on the block and provides a truly accurate reading. For about £15 this eliminates the possibility that your original sender is defective and works better than the original ever did. As cheap modifications go, it’s the best value for money mod I have done.

However, my experience was that agreed delivery dates weren’t met and you do have to keep pushing them.

O.k, it's like this: ETB can repair TVR gauges (1993 thru 1995). Other than that it'll have to go to Speedy Cables http://www.speedycables.com/ .

And in the case of my Temp' Gauge it's gonna be about £40 + Vat + P and P May find a new one for that!
