Rear panel/shelf vents - removal for speakers

I've got some speakers to fit and need to remove the rear vents. Do they pull out from inside the car or are they attached from the rear?

Also, from people that have already fitted rear speakers, as the vents are being removed, is it a good idea to leave a ventilation gap or is it not really necessary?

I left the vents in put 4 small blocks behind & mounted the speakers on them

The vents are held in place with a wire clip. If you open the boot then remove the carpeted panel above the fuel tank you'll have access. The carpeted panel just pulls away.

I have rear speakers and vents. What speakers are you fitting?

Probably 6.5" round pioneers.

Hmm. I recently fitted TS-E1702i (rear) and TS-E1302i (front) to replace the OE Pioneers. I really can't say it's been an improvement. You're welcome to my old units; there's nuffin wrong with 'em.

I am told that cutting the fibreglass panel to make the holes the right size for your speakers is a problem, especially getting them symmetrical...

Thanks for the offer. I've already replaced the front ones and I'm just considering what to do at the rear because I currently have nothing.......and I might leave it that way. I'll PM you if I'm interested.
