suggestions for winter fettling.

just looking for some ideas as to what i could do to make my 4.3Bv griff even better over this winter. Car is currently totally std and original bar ally Rad and nitrons. Dont get me wrong i am still totally delighted with my griff, and do next to no mileage on it, but i love the spanners and am always looking to upgrade/improve without ruining my cars originality....

P.s nearly 2 years i have had the TVR and thats 1 1/2 years longer than any "toy" car i mave had in years !!!

Get hold of a set of 500 spec calipers, change the rotors to Sierra 4x4 (eg. EBC GD150) and put on braided brake lines. While you have that lot apart you will have to bleed the brake system so you might as well upgrade the fluid to DOT5.1 as it has a higher boiling point.

Then you will have the stopping power our cars deserve.
I don't think you need to go any further than this (ie, down the Big Brake route) for normal road driving, but I will never EVER go back to standard 4.x brakes

Is this what's on the Std 500 anyway (rotors)... as I think the brakes on my car are very good and can't understand why people upgrade them?.... Even fade when pushing it does not appear to be a problem??

Agreed.

I found the standard springs too soft and the car would even bottem out at the rear occasionally.
Fitted + 20% springs and problem cured at no detrimental effect on the ride.

Yes, the above is, apart from being grooved/dimpled on the EBC GD150's, standard spec on a 500

Standard brakes are ok for road use but IMO not up to hard work.

I have 330mm discs + Bremsport calipers + race pads.

Even after a full day on the track there has never been any fade and the brake feel is superb!

Peter, what have you done to the back to balance that? How does the car feel on extreme braking into a slow corner on track?

Nothing done to the rear to balance as yet.

On track it seems fine.

Ed from Motor Sport Events drove it in anger a few weeks back and said the whole car was nicely balanced, scared me almost to death, the only improvement would be to the awfull heavy steering!

Power steering now fitted, will test with him at Colerne on Monday.
