Bit of a problem anyone know the answer ??

Drove the grif today first time for a few days seemed fine to start with parked on a hill for 1/2 an hour about 1 mile after started not quite warmed up.

Set off and at about 2500 -3000 under acceleration power stopped for less than a second then came back kept doing this then ok slowed for a roundabout then accelerated off and did it again, it then seemed to be ok if you acelerate gently but 'coughed' when i floored it.

1 hour later still doing it - Then being gentle I overtaked a car and it did it at the wrong moment - scary

My thoughts - electric or fuel problem but any ideas how to solve it ??

Has your fuel filter been replaced recently? Sounds like a limited fuel supply - partially blocked filter?

I know it sounds daft but lift the bonnet and check the pipe to the airflow meter where the bonnet closes on the pipe, if it's got a hole there.........

Fuel filter's under the wheelarch (can't remember which) next to the fuel pump - tricky to get at even with wheel off, and even tricky-er to change it without getting crap down the fuel pipes. I bled mine thru at the pressure reg on the engine just to make sure any rubbish didn't get thru to the engine...'orrible job

Sorry, just saw your thread!

I had left the Griff locked in the garage for 2 months in the winter a coupe of years ago and two of the HT suppressor caps had come off the spark plugs on their own...honest!

I had checked the oil, coolant, tyres etc. The car started fine, just a bit rough (I assumed because it was so cold and hadn't been run). When I blipped the throttle I was getting a misfire and thought it would clear itself...Drove down the road and after a while stopped as power was down a bit and I was getting a misfire if I opened the throttle very much! I was ready to call the AA and opened the bonnet and started to cautiously poke around amongst the hot engine bits and was astonished to find two suppresor caps gently cooking on the exhaust manifold (O/S).

Good luck!
