Nearly 5 years of ownership and I find...

The other day my nearly 2 year old boy wanted to "drive TVR racing car" - I let him sit in the drivers seat while I cleaned the dash etc, when I noticed a small round knob under/near the indicator stalk.

It looks like it could adjust the brightness of the instrument lights but I could see no difference when I turned the knob.

I hang my head in shame? Pse tell me what this knob does?

It's the intermittent wiper delay.

Mind you a friend of mine owned a Griff for 5 years and never realised there was a button to switch off the dash lights.

When I got mine I did notice a flikcering light in the passenger footwell, whilst driving into the garage. I stopped the car, yelled at my brother to jump out incase of fire.

Had a look. It was a courtsey light.

So after 2 + years of Griff ownership I didn't know / have not found the button for turning off the instrument lights!!!!

The last time this topic came up a bright spark went looking for it. Upside down in the footwell he found it, pressed it, and it fell off!

It took me just over 10 years of TVR ownership to discover the light in the passengers footwell of my Griff and considering its my 3rd Griff, I`ll say no more. It just came up at a club meet, overheard someone saying about it, and said "are you sure there is a light there" only to open the door and look under to see it there switched off. Still, every time i now open the door to get in, i am greeted with a nice bright interior

I found this after kneeing it and breaking it, hence I now have no instrument lights (it broke in the off position ) One of my little winter jobs when I get around to it !!

It's a nightmare with the fridge in the garage

luckily the fridge light doesn't run the electric flat in the house

Had an Audi S6 that would eat a battery every 12 months (thank you Halfords for your 4yr warranty I only ever paid the the first one )

Why would you want to turn out the instrument lights anyway ?

Are we talking about the lights on the dashboard?

Handy for long driving on motorways at night

Mystery solved, that's my fan override switch.

So I guess the previous owner changed its purpose.

I had a 95 griff and there was a button just under the dash left hand side of steering wheel which use to turn the dash board lights off, but on my 99 griff the same button is my overide button for my fans !! does this mean i have a switch on the passenger side in the footwell then ?
