Couple of questions about Griff ownership.

Should I go for a 400 or 500 ? Can I adjust the pedals to give me a little more leg room .

Hi.. ive got a 500 1999/2000.. Im 6'5" put the seat back fully cant reach the pedals,, Hope this helps

Go for a 500 of course. Tall is ok in a Griff. Peter Wheeler never built a car that he could not fit in comfortably. I think he was about 6'4.

Neither... get a 4.3.... one in good fettle is just as powerful as most standard 500's , but you get a much nicer noise

I went for the 500 and boy am I not disappointed. Pedals are adjustable and plenty of legroom in both.

I drove a 4.3 without powersteering and hated it. The 500 I tried after, with PS, I bought. So perhaps you want to take that into consideration.

I'm your height too. It's no problem once adjusted.

The pedals adjust. Brake/clutch are easy, just screw them in or out. When you try a car, note that they attached in such a way that you can have them in two positions. This allows the clutch or brake pedal to be positioned half a pedal width to either side as well as height adjustment.

If you have big feet this makes all the difference. It also allows setting it nicely for heel & toe.

I find that clutch to the left and brake to the right works well. You can then slip your left foot between the clutch and brake pedal easily and park the foot under the clutch for comfort.

The throttle pedal adjusts too, but not so simply.

Some cars have been fitted with aftermarket pedals made by a company called Leven. This firm makes a range of nice bits for TVR’s. Leven pedals can be had in different sizes, so you can change stuff if you don’t like the standard.

You will also find that the driver’s seat was available with or without a spacer piece underneath to alter the seat height. You may want to add or remove a seat height spacer to suit your needs.

The main problem I find regarding seat position is shoulder width. I have broad shoulders and my right shoulder touches the door window. This means I have to lean slightly left to drive the car with the window closed. The cure is simple, roof down, window open.

Own a 500. Once drove a chim 400 and it felt slow to me. The 500 is fast. Good torque.

Wheeler was 6'6" ... towered over me at a paltry 6'3" when I bumped into him at a motor show a few years back!

And yes - there is loads of leg room for the driver. Regarding which engine to choose, my father was on the money when he used to say "if you're going to have one, have a big 'un".
