Zero miles Griff (sort of)

Hello peeps,

I took the Griff out over the weekend and noticed the odo (digital one) had reset itself to zero. I drove a few miles (which recorded fine on the odo), did some shopping, then re-started the car... to note the mileage had gone back to zero again.

Unfortunately the rest of the car doesn't return to showroom condition at the same time.

It's not the original speedo but a later one with big bezel and digital odo (no trip). It was clearly freezing cold but I've driven the car in similar weather plenty of times over the last few years with no such issue.

Anyone else had this problem?

After you've checked the big fuse, cleaned the stepper motor, put the accumate on and bought a new heavy duty battery...

a new 'watch' battery in the speedo is probably all you need

Spend is correct the backup battery in the instrument is very low & the voltage drops the colder it gets. When you put the ignition back on power comes back & the odo is reset to zero. No doubt APITA to change

Thanks peeps - I had no idea the speedo had a battery in it but it makes sense. I don't really want to pull the dash out just to fix that but I guess I'll have to... Perhaps I should do a full re-wire at the same time and then a re-trim, then an ECU upgrade, then a full re-spray....
