Hey ! Anyone know the whereabouts or what happened to the original '92 motorshow Griffith prototype ? The one with the door handles & fuel cap filler ??

Any pics ?

This 'Mother' really would be a very significant find as I guess it's generally regarded as the model which turned the fortunes of TVR around overnight & secured the companies future.

Hope its not 'rotting' in the factory 'Prototype Graveyard'.... Should really be 'laying-in-state'in a shrine !

I agree BUT knowing TVR's disregard for these prototypes I suspect they butchered it to make another styling mock-up.

Was it black? If so I think there were some pics of it in the PH TVRgeneral forum about 6 months ago.
Try doing a search there for it

It was a re-hased 3000, Taimar or something IIRC...

It's alright... the V8S was so bad at handling power that they intended for the Griff that they developed a proper chassis for it. Just shows that the S series was a budget sports car

I was gonna say shirley that would make it more valueable , but I better not now . Respect where respect is due though, not only did the S spawn the griff, didn't the first racing tuscan go down the same route .

Glad you mentioned handling the power though, it probably did struggle given the prototypes and press cars seemed to have an abundance of power, but I it would have struggled with the road going versions output .

If the chassis is so bad how come it can handle enough power to place 3 V8S cars and an S3C in the top ten of the 2003 speed championship.

All it needs IMHO is a decent setup on the suspension

Shirley this is more down to the driver than the car and with a decent one such as a Griff they'd do even better ?

Cheers, Al.

Nope,IMHO no matter how good the driver if the chassis is cr@p the it just wont corner.Remember the accusation is the chassis can't handle the power,so no matter how much power you have the chassis cant handle it

I was saying that with a better chassis than the 'S', ie. the Griff, the drivers' positions could have been even better. Because TVR deemed the 'S' chassis unable to handle the Griff proposed power the latter must be a better unit. However, the daddy is obviously the racing Tuscan, which is the missing link, having the 'S' looks and the better chassis which the Griff was developed from. Also I can testify my Tuscans chassis is much better than my Griffs was.
So the moral to my ramblings is sprint a Tuscan racer, just so happens I know of one for sale.

Cheers, Al.

I'll second that Al, the Tuscan chassis is miles ahead of the others, Ideal car for spinting.
To be diplomatic i would suggest that the "V8S" drivers that drive fast are skillful.
hope this helps to calm the situation

Ok here is my 2p's worth

The daddy is the S Cosworth, seemed to handle power just fine (and before anyone says it was a completely modified chassis etc, show me a picture then I will believe you )

Or how about the ES, completely modified again? I don't think it is

Anyway have they actually come up with the proposed power yet or still just printing it in brochures

Running for cover...........
