Camshaft replacement - Rockers ?

Hi,
I am investigating the replacement of the camshaft on my griffith 500 and would like to know what a reasonable cost should be ? I have several quotes from various independants and there seems to be a significant difference in the quotations depending on whether the rocker arms need might need replacing (i.e £1000 lowest, £1800 highest)

Any comments ?

That range sounds about right from my investigations. (Assuming that the low one is just the Cam and the higher price is with Rockers)

I have just had the cam replaced on my Chim 500. Paid just short of 1200 all in. This din't include changing the rockers as they were fine, but they were checked as part of the job. My understanding is that the rockers should be checked when changing the cam and replaced if needed, but then I know stuff all about mechanics.

I have had the Power 885 cam fitted, so far very pleased but I have only had a short drive home to tuck her up in the garage before the snow started falling again. What I would say is it is very smooth from low down and pulled nicely, though how much of this is due to the choice of cam or simply that I replaced worn old one with a new one.

One TVR supplier has even suggested doing a top end rebuild at the same time as replacing the camshaft (Heads off, skimming, ports re-angled, valves re-seated, new springs)

Anyone had any experience of this ?
