I am sure this will be of interest to some members on here as I know a lot of you run Toyo Proxy T1-Rs or Toyo Proxy R888s.

Looks a bit like a rallycross tyre. Don't think it would be suitable for most Grif owners as the sizes are unsuitable for Estorils.

That 'block' tread pattern looks a little suspect, I'd expect an increased chance of aquaplaning against the T1R or S.

Think I'll stick with my old SO2's and 888's for now.

I'm on 15" fronts too - what exactly would I win by 'upgrading' to more unsprung and rotating weight, wrong offsets and thinner tyres on a front end that is prone to tramlining if you go too far in sidewall stiffness?

I've run R1Rs (albeit the earlier Japanese spec Trampio R1Rs, viasually identical) on the Saab and they're most definitely more 'roadable' than triple eights or A048s etc in terms of ride/tramlining, noise, wet grip and aquaplaning resistance. If they had appropriate front and rear sizes for the Griffmaera in W rating rather than V, I'd have them (and I wouldn't want to run R888s on my car for road use).

Well have none of you noticed how many others have bitten the bullet and changed to 16" fronts so they can have brake upgrades and a greater selection of rubber?

The issue of getting any 15" tyres with the correct speed rating and sizes has been well documented for some time now....

These have been available in Japan for years! I've had a few sets on various imports over the years.

Well, unless someone finds me a pair of OZ splits in 7x16" (rather than 7.5 which would ve a mild but noticeable stretch for 205/50 fronts) with correct front offsets I'll stick with the 15s the car was set up on thanksverymuch. Have yet to come across a Griffmaera that warrants bigger front brakes than 295 mm or so, anyway...

According you to you it's not worth having a 5 litre engine either..
