Picture the year, 1989. The TVR R&D department in Blackpool. A conversation between electrics grand fromage, Bill, and trainee sparky Ben.
Ben: Hi Bill, I think I've found a place for the fuse box on the new Griff.
Bill: Really, Ben? I am impressed. What have you come up with?
Ben: Well, Bill. I thought we could tuck it away inside the engine block. If we put it here (Ben points to a diagram) then the only way to change a fuse will be rev the engine to 5000rpm and then, while hanging from trapeze, reach inside with a pair of 6 foot pincers and yank the fuse out. Obviously we would have to superglue each of the fuses in place and encase them in some of that fancy concrete they use to build bomb shelters, but that's no problem. Wouldn't want them coming loose, would we, Bill?
Bill: Benny, Benny, Benny you have a lot to learn. If we put the fuse box there then it might be possible to change the fuses. That is not the 'TVR Way'. We're going to put the fuse box here (points to another diagram) because it gives the impression of being vaguely accessable, but in actual fact is guaranteed to rip the arms off anyone who comes near it.
Ben: I'm sorry, Bill, I just wasn't thinking. I'll try harder, I really will.
Bill: No problem, son, you'll get there in the end...
