Griff car cover
Discussion
Any of you Griff people got experience of the various car covers available ? I am in the process of getting a Griff and would like to buy a cover ahead of the car arriving. The car normally lives in the garage so I don’t want a real heavy duty number but during the day I do sometimes work in the garage space so the car has to brave the elements. I tried one of the “universal fit” ones from a high street car store on an XJS and it spent more time blowing around by neighbours garden than on the car. The custom fit ones seem quite expensive. Anybody recommend a particular type ?
My missus bought me one for Christmas from Leven. Its specifically for use in the garage and is a great fit.
It is more of a dust cover so its not ideal for exterior use.
I put mine on a couple of weeks ago after I'd cleaned the car. Its kept it looking 'just cleaned'. It also features 2 side zips so you can get inside the car without taking the cover off.

I've had the CoverCraft 'Noah' cover for a couple of weeks now. It sounds as though it might be a bit too heavy duty for you but then again if you are worried about wind, rain etc., then I guess you do need an exterior one.
So far it has been pretty good, even stayed on during the recent 70 mph gales once I had put on the restraining strap (a 1 minute job).
I got this fabric partly because it is quite thick and resists minor scrapes, tears etc. (e.g casual keying) which is important to me as my Griff is on the street. They do another fabric which is more expensive but very thin, like silk, and completely waterproof. I tested a piece under a running tap for about half an hour and nothing came through, in fact the fabric didn't even stay wet. I forget what it is called but they will send you samples if you ask.
The fit is pretty good, apart from a couple of odd bulges just above the headlamp covers. Makes it look like a 911
It keeps out the dirt as well, unlike my previous high street special which seemed to filter the dirt into nice patterns on the bonnet and wings. That was until a dustman nicked it off the car! (I saw him do it but was too slow to catch him) Thankfully the Covercraft covers come with a padlock and steel cable that goes under the car.
I'm sounding like a car cover anorak now so I'll stop but there are other threads as well if you search, I found them quite helpful.

for my dads 3" Fowler ploughing engine at the moment.
Small farm?
Nearly, its a 3" scale ie 1/4 size. Remember that ploughing engine that the Salvage Squad rebuilt? Well the engines that my dad has made are of the "V" model, which was the mark after that one. There are none in existance full size. He's just finished number 2 "Black Beauty", and is about 1/4 way through number 3 "Black Prince". Should be finished towards the end of the summer. Number 1 "Black Bess" came 3rd in class at the Harrogate Show last year, Black Beauty is entered this year. They are 6 feet long, just over two feet wide, and weigh over half a ton each. I've driven "Black Bess", and she's surprisingly powerful.

I've got a CoverCraft one too, it's the waterproof one (not sure what it's known as??). Quite lightweight, hasn't made any scuff marks on the paintwork and is def waterproof, fits the car like a glove and has never come off in high winds. I'd recommend it but it's not resistant to cats! Cost was around the 250 mark.
I've got three different types bought before i moved house which now has a garage. The first is from Leven and just covers the roof and windscreen, great for going away for showery weekends! The second, also from Leven is a full lightweight breatheable cover with Giffith motif on bonnet section. This is great for the garage, folds up nice and can be stored in its own carrier bag. The final and IMO the best is the full waterproof car cover from Classic Additions ltd, about £130(see sprint).I ordered it online some two years ago and never has got the car wet.Whichever one you buy, be carefull you dont get the inside cover dirty as this DOES scratch the paintwork. Cheers zz...I had a noah cover from Covercraft, very good as long as the car is outside with the wind blowing through it. What I found though is by putting a cover on in the garage(an indoor cover), the car built up condensation in the winter weather resulting the cover actually retaining the moisture and the car staying wet for longer. Of course this may be unique to me as my garage is detached from the house and quite old.
