spring change

has anyone ever changed the springs only on their griff,in order to improve ride quality?reason i ask is that my griff is not as stable at high speed as my chim was,its a bit' floaty'.my griff has its original suspension from late '96 when it was built and has covered 14000 miles.although its passed the mot no probs,im wondering if the springs are tired and soft?could it be the shocks though?incidently my old chim was also a 500 and had the same shocks and springs,which for the record are yellow bilsteins all round with yellow eibach springs at rear and red at front.please dont reply with 'fit nitrons' as i cant afford it!all the geometry is set fine btw.cheers-mv

Some people report this feeling and others don't. Seems wierd. Maybe you should check everything from tyre pressures upto ride height etc before worrying about new springs. It could also be the shocks not keeping the springs under control.

Try asking your local specialist (or dealer if you have a good one) to see what they think.

cheers icamm,but ive checked it all,tyre presssures,ride height and full geometry which is why im thinking 'would soft springs do this',unfortunately ive yet to find a dealer whos opinion i trust,especially when replacement costs so much.this is why im after personal experiences if poss.

Sorry I don't know anyone in your area I could recommend for advice. Although there have been a number of Griff owners on here complaining about the same sort of feeling at high speeds (on track only of course ) and it's possibly something to do with the actual aerodynamics of the Griff compared to the Chimp.

Can't say I've noticed a problem in mine (even at 157mph at Bruntingthorpe) but I haven't got anything to compare it against. That was with the original, 12 year old at the time, springs and shocks. I haven't tried it with the Nitrons yet.
