Considering changing the dash back to wood..... opinions pls

I am considering changing the dashboard on my Griffith back to orginal veneer. One of my colleagues has kindly photoshoped an existing picture to show juxtaposition of the different dashboards:

I really cannot decide between the two, I really like the veneer on cars where the whole dash is blue but mine has a cream insert which makes the wood look different to most others. What do you think?

It seems to be a very personal thing. I would go for wood every time but I know others wouldn't.

I've got steel because it suits the black interior of my car. Everything on mine is either, black, silver or brass.

I see many steel dashed in car's and they just don't seem to compiment the interior. The wooden one in your pics above compliments the interior much better in my view.

It's always a very personal thing . ..

I've made the wood darker and made the dials stand out more, also smoothed the edges a bit. I can easily make it even darker to compare?

As said above, with the trim combo you have, wood looks the best.

One of the reasons why I bought a Chim ( I know I know I am in the Griff forum now) is because it looks like a traditional british sports car with this wonderful walnut dash. Dare I to say, I even fitted a homemade walnut dash to my first car a Peugeot 104 ZS 27 years ago and also to my first 10" Mini.
Since then all my cars had wooden dashs, it is just pure class.
In the end it is all up to personal taste I guess

It hasn't made the decision any easier and you are right the dash is a personal choice, but it is always great to hear other peoples opinons.

I was considering the same for mine but think I'd prefer black dials with a dark veneer dash. But would be way to expensive so it was a non starter.


Think the veneer dash would look great on yours though Matthew

That is looks like the same type of dash I have fitted currently. The combination of the black and chrome looks epic in your car, I think the wood may look a bit too dark. Like you say it is very expensive to change with no real benefit. At least the metal dashboards do not stuffer from cracking I suppose.
