Am possibly considering getting a Griff. Always loved the way they look/sound, so fancy giving one a go.

Have done a fair bit of reading here, checked out the Ballistic Banana site, 500SE site. Are there any other useful sources for background (common faults, run costs, where to buy from etc)??

Was originally thinking a pre-cat 4.3 would be the way to go, but on reading suspect a 500 is probably wisest (might have to put the old style wheels on though!).

Also, should anyone have a dark blue (or possibly green) car they might be considering selling, let me know!

Not really thought that far. 20kish I would think. Possibly more (another option I'm considering is a Porsche 930 - both itches that probably need scratching).
