The brake fluid reservoir cap

The brake fluid reservoir on my 98 car has a level sensor in the cap. As a result the cap sits higher than is ideal for a modification I want to make. Did earlier cars use the same reservoir but without the level sensor ? While I am at it, what Ford is the part from please ?

My Griff is a May 92 chassis number and has a cap with a level indicator.

We fitted one to an SE Griff a few years back and had a similar problem.
We tried the bonnet on a few Griffs(mine included) and found there were varying clearences between the master cylinder cap and the vents.

You can take some meat out of the underside of the bonnet, you may also be able lower the pedal box slightly by putting some spacers between above the pedal box and the wing IYSWIM. This will of course lower the master cylinder with it.

wadsapple has this problem. They just modified the modified bonnet IYSWIM.
i.e. They cut a hole in it.

Though I'm not certain of its inward/outward venting arrangement, the cap from a Citreon C1 (and I guess Pug 107/Toyota Aygo also) fit the reservoir with minimal height. It costs £2.88 and is about as flat as you'll find.
