polishing alloys

I have the 5 spoke precat wheels, had them refurbed last year, diamond cut and they looked fantastic.
However I didnt get them laquered, and now its biting me in the ass. As I spent more time driving than cleaning the metal has discoloured again.

Does anyone know any good metal cleaning tricks? or of a polisher that fits to a drill or small angle grinder ?

I wouldn't have had them lacquered either. Once corrosives have found their way underneath you'd have to remove the film to restore a shine. I guess a bit of hard graft with the Solvol (or similar) is gonna be your answer. I've heard that 'FK1000 Big White Hi-Temp Paste Wax' is very good at protecting bare alloy after too; I have some of this but my wheels are Estorils so its not been of concern.

+1... I wax my motorbike rims where they are polished.... protects and is easy to polish away with Solvite or others when it needs to be done,,
