Buying my 2nd Griffith 500 - HELP PLEASE!!

Hi all

I've not been on this forum for several years since I sadly sold my first Griffith 500. I am now however currently looking to replace it and just wanted to check with you guys on a couple of points - hope that is ok.

My first Griffith 500 was a 1995 with about 55000 miles on the clock. I loved it and it gave me no serious trouble for the 18 months that I owned it.

I have found a couple of 1998/9 reg 500's within my budget of £12k ish that are available but they have high mileage (approximately 80k). Is there anything I should be particularly aware of when buying a high mileage one? One of them had a new engine and gearbox replaced under warrantee at about 60,000 miles but the service history, although relatively up to date is not all main dealer or specialist. Should I have any concerns about this at all?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Miles shouldn't be important, it's all about condition. My precat's 18 years old and coming up to 110k - still going strong. Again, service history is important though the dealer/indy stamps are not vital - so long as it's been done by someone who knows our cars' foibles.

Check the chassis thoroughly, but all being well, I'd go for the one with a engine gearbox, that only has 20 k on it
