Injectors (again)
Discussion
I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild (500 serp) at the moment and I'm trying to decide what to do with my injectors. They're original and have done 50k miles so will at minimum need a clean. I've read a couple of threads on here and one of the recommendations seems to be to replace them with a Ford Yellow Top (C302) high-output fuel injector set.
They seem to be available at reasonable prices but I need some clarification before doing anything.
1. Are they a better injector than a (new) standard Lucus injector?
2. Do they require any tuning (other than timing which I will be doing anyway).
3. Is the standard pressure ok for these?
4. Are they reasonably future-proof? (will they cope with a little bit of tuning later?).

Injectors; my Griff 500 has been running fine for a few years with a set Bosch mid range injectors I had fitted at Austic & recommended at the time by Mark Adams for better detonation & BHP. They are a Bosch injector designed to give a mist spray patern against the standard single jet stream type, I do recall they were experimental at the time & mid range price. I dont have a Bosch part number however if you contact Austic or MA they may be able to advise the type & cost etc.
For additional info - my car made 310BHP with a combination of these injectors, H404 cam, flared trumpets, larger RV8 intake plenum, ACT smooth intake pipe, Tornado MA chip (when running RV8 ECU).
Still running with the same set of injectors with a different engine set up & cam, although the engine builder must have ultra sonically cleaned them I hope.

1. Depends which you buy, I don't know those injectors specifically2. Do they require any tuning (other than timing which I will be doing anyway).

2. Yes, you'll need to change map/chip/ECU
3. Dunno specifically on the Ford items but they should be supplied with a suggested operating pressure
4. The Lucas injectors are supposed to be good for 350bhp. You need to decide between flow rate and spray pattern and what potential mods you may make in the future.
I decided to change mine from Lucas to Bosch Red Tops and increased the FP to a fixed 3bar when I was changing the ECU and a few other mods. Mainly as I guessed the Lucas units would be worn/dirty etc after 50k+ miles and the exchange rate from the states was good at the time.
Really depends on the state of tune you are aiming with your engine rebuild i.e. cam profile, induction mods etc.
The Bosch injectors spray pattern is a vast improvement over the original Lucas pattern. The Bosch injectors that MA usually recommends are the 'red tops' which I believe will supply enough fuel up to 350hp in a RV8 or 450hp in an AJP.
At the risk of being accused of giving away trade secrets again
, if you are going for a milder tune you can use the Bosch injectors used in the Vauxhall Vectra 1.8/2.0 litre engines which share the same spray characteristics of the 'red top' but have a lower flow rate. These injectors can supply enough flow for engines tuned for the 310-320hp in the RV8 or 400-420hp in the AJP.

The engine rebuild is a necessity more than anything else (looks like tophat liners might be needed) but it does give me an opportunity to sort out some of the basics so that I can do some of the external bits at a later date. So I will probably start with a basic health check and a stealth cam.
The next step will be an ACT twin/triple plenum and airflow meter. I'm just trying to decide if I should do the injectors now or when I fit the plenum. Depending on the options, it might make more sense to do them with the plenum. The Ford Yellow Tops looked like a good comprise between standard and Bosch.
