Removing Pre cats
Discussion
Thanks Quinny but next question is how? I have read an earlier topic on spanners etc which I understand but cannot work out how I get the metal sleeve off that covers the connectors. At the top of the sleeve 3 wires come through what looks like a black plastic or rubber bung. Does this bung come out or do I just slide the metal sleeve up the wires away from the lambda sensor?

I'm doing the same thing (removing pre-cats).
The lambda sensor nut is (on mine anyway) 17mm. I bought a deep 17mm socket and took to it with an angle grinder. Certainly cheaper than that ebay listing - and worked fine.
Now, if anyone has any good tips about how to get to the difficult manifold bolts I'm all ears!!!
Is there a correct torque for doing these bolts back up - or doesn't it matter much?

If you remove the starter motor and exhaust it does make the job a lot easier and in my opinion quicker in the long run. I would strongly advise though investing in the ARP bolts for the rebuild. Now, if anyone has any good tips about how to get to the difficult manifold bolts I'm all ears!!!

I have the car up on ramps, removed the exhaust, starter motor and have not really had any trouble getting at the bolts, though I have used a wide variety of different spanners, particularly on the drivers side where a swan neck 14mm ring spanner was essential. I also had to grind the side off a ring spanner to get at the top back drivers side bolt. If thers any particular bolt your struggling with I can post pictures of how I did it.
Main thing is take your time and make sure spanners are on properly not to round heads and shave knuckles!
