help me out what tyres on estorils do you have ?

Ok chaps as you Griff boys have more estorils what tyres are you running, seems to be T1R the favs but I would like the R1R but they are not available in the profiles i have on the SO2 bridgestones. Really fancy the R888 as the car is a dry weather car mainly. So what tyres do you chaps have ?, i have the 15inch on the front and 16 rears.

Dunlop SP9000 on the 15" fronts, (215's) and Toyos T1R 245's on the 16" rears. Couldn't find matching Toyos for the front.
Question: I've got a slow leak on one of the rear tyres (goes flat over 2 weeks). Is it sensible to have it repaired, or safer to get a new tyre - given that I drive it fast?!!

Whats the only thing keeping you on the road when you drive fast?Whats the cause of the leak?
Could the cause be likely to give out when you are driving? You know?
Be sensible/safer, please.

Other than that, it really depends on the tyre guys opinion on whether it can safely be repaired or its destined for the bin.
Be aware that AFAIK Toyos are only available VR rated for the fronts so you really need get it in writing from your insurance that it's okay, a phone call to some oik who says "Err, I don't really know mate, but as you will never do over 149 mph you should be okay" will not be acceptable should you have a claim.

Why don't you mind the Hankook R-S2? It's available in all Griffith/Chimaera related sizes and it has at least W-classification:

Its because I couldn't find the Toyos with the 'proper' speed rating that's why I went for the Dunlops. I got them new only last Autumn so you can still get them in 215s. (I don't have power steering, hence the slimmer fronts). I do regularly go over 150mph (spend a lot of time in Germany!!), so it was important. Although I hadn't heard too much about insurance companies having an issue about it!
I hear the advice re replacing the tyre with the slow leak. I'll get the valve checked/changed first, in case its as simple as that, but won't hesitate to replace them if necessary.

If it's a puncture I would have no qualms with a decent plug. A week after getting my first Elise I had 3 punctures. All were plugged, and I did a SELOC run out on them, no problems.
On the RS-2, apparently they get very good reviews from the Elise boys.
When I had the 15's and 16's I had T1-Rs. No complaints, over my S01s way better.

Hi all,
Just had my Griff 500 two weeks now.....treated her to a set of Toyo TIRs this morning at Micheldever Tyres. £394 fitted and balanced etc, pleased with the tyres and the bill.I had to push the car in the queue as it splutterd and died and would not restart, and pushed it out on the road with its new tyres on. The staff were very helpful and let me use their phone to call the AA.I managed to stop them coming to the rescue having replaced the coil HT lead in the vacant hole in the distributor cap. The wipers packed up on the way home but I think its only the park switch playing up! The joys of TVR ownership.

It certainly sounds a good price for a set Charles. I assume the front Toyos are V rated Charles and the rear Ws and that your insurer is OK with the ratings. As a matter of interest which insurer are you with? I am currently with Hagerty and will need to change at the end of this year I believe (as the Griff will be too new for them) and am therefore keen to know which insurers are actually OK with the lowers rated tyres - yes I know people say insurers are Ok with it because of the difficulty of getting the correctly rated tyres but which have actually agreed to it in writing? - I'd hate to put new boots on and then find I was stuck for the best deal because of it, so any info welcome.
