Could some one have a look at their alternator connections please.
Mine has been stripped of the car for some months (long story)and I have forgoten what goes where.
There is the big stud (obvious) but where does the small spade connection go.
Next to the large stud (marked as D+) or furthest away (marked as W)
Silly like I removed the male coonection for cleaning and cant remember which stud it fits back on.
Cheers

On mine ( a 98 car) there were three wires connected however only two went anywhere. The thick red goes to the battery via 100A fuse, smaller stud fixing is a 12 v feed that is only there with the ignition on and comes via the charge light. Not certain if this is purely for the charge light or if it is the excitation supply to get things going. The third one which was a spade goes no further than the loom plug behind the dash. As suggested I suspect that was used on the Landrover application for engine rpm.
Thanks all, but the strange thing is that the connector block for the small wire connection(goes on the stud and has a male spade to connect to) is shaped to specifically fit on the W connection space between the dividing pieces of plastic. It will fit on the D+ but the spade is then not straight and it looks odd. Perhaps I just didnt notice it looking odd, but I dont think so.
