After putting a new battery in the Griff two days ago I come to do some more work on it tonight and the battery is completley dead not even a glimmer of life. The car has never had a drain on it before, only reason for changing battery is that it was struggling to start even when fully charged but you could leave it for up to two weeks and it would still start(albeit tuning over very slowly) .

Anyway disconnected the earth put the new battery on charge and stuck the old battery on via jump leads checked the drain with everything switched off(which it was already) 190ma drain is this to much? what should it be? could I have just had a blip with the alarm not reseting properly with the battery change?

Any help would be great

Started pulling fuses and when the E/Window 30a fuse is pulled out the amps drop to below 50ma so it looks as if the problem is somewhere around there, also the ignition feed relay clicks when the fuse is pushed back in?
My windows work with the ignition off is this correct?
do the windows have a relay? if so where?
any help would be appreciated

no idea about the draining but my windows work without the ignition being on so guess that bit is normal. Nothing shorting out the battery when you cram all the stuff back on top ? I have a piece of carpet on top of the battery.

No nothing shorting out, I have tried now disconnecting window switches and motors but the drain is still there. What strikes me as strange though is that a 190ma drain could flatten a battery in 2 days its a bosche battery 680 amps amd 75ah so if the car had 1 amp drain it would take 75 hours to flatten so 0.19amps should in theory last 375 hours which is over 2 weeks. Makes me think it was something else flatteing the Battery

Almost always the door striker pins for the interior light. It will energise the relay for the central locking as well as the interior light, even with the interior light off! When i tested the draw in this situation it was pulling about 1.5A!!!!

Take out the door pins clean them up and ensure the doors are striking them correctly, this was the cure for me.
