60 minutes at gas mark 6.......

I'm painting a few engine parts with VHT Enamel and they need to be baked at 90c for 60 minutes. I've just done the water pump and a pulley housing which has bearings in it and was just wondering if baking either of these will cause any damage. I'm sure they must reach similar temperatures when on the engine....

Just let them air dry. Will take a day to dry but it wont do it any harm...

I once put Gunk or some other de-greaser stuff on a head to clean it.. The bike was in bit's and it suggested that it worked better when the engine was hot... so as the girlfriend was out I popped it in the oven at about 90 deg
About 15 mins later I went to inspect it and opened the door... The furmes that were coming off it were something like mustard gas!!... My mate and me had to hit the floor and crawl out into the back garden to recover.... It took ages for the room to clear and I just got rid of the smell for when she got back... The head came up nice though... but did nearly kill us both... So take care... some fumes that come off these cleaners / paints etc at temp are not nice at all!!

Yeh, I reckon hot Gunk fumes are bloody awful !

I've already baked a few bits and the smell isn't too bad - just worried about damaging the parts......not the wife

So what sort of temperature can I apply to these parts without causing damage???
